Europe is completely lost - what the f**k does "illegal content" leading to theft or imprisonment say about a society? Disgraceful. The whole micro-aggressing, words can kill, bullshit just shows how timid European men have become. Here in Idaho, we live through fire season every year. Fires are caused by lightening 90% of the time, with the remainder caused by stupid teenagers with fireworks or an idiot who parks there car on top of dry brush (city folk trying out camping). NOT because the CO2 content is 100 ppm above what is was in 1700. We fight the fires, we manage the damage to people and property, and move on. Brave men, a bit of coin, to prevent loss of life. But not climate change. Earth will be fine. I'm much more concerned with the climate cultists limiting energy generation that powers society.
Wow, Lau and family, be careful on the fire front. You're absolutely right about the true causes rather than the political cover that governments take and evangelical climate change alarmists. We had a second home in the high desert mountains of central Colorado from 2000 to 2020 before returning to central Kansas permanently as the pandemic set in. In the later years smoke and fire were a serious concern every summer. Our drives looked like yours in Valencia, which is a region I knew from on the road autostop adventures in the '60s, when fire was not even a remote concern. Be safe. I would simply remind people that two things can be true at the same time. Forest/land mismanagement and the science behind climate change can exist together. Academic bias causing suppression of data/studies that don’t support the climate change narrative can exist alongside of scientific models that have proven to be predictive of the climate events we’re experiencing now. Take the emotion out of it and just passively look at ALL the facts across the spectrum as a point of interest and you’ll probably find yourself a happier person no matter what conclusions you’ve reached.
Appreciate the thought, Dan. But isn't that the real problem? Even granting you're right, only one of the two is ever allowed to be the story. The mismanagement angle doesn't get weighed against the climate one... it gets ignored, and anyone who raises it gets the "denier" tag. And I know exactly why: the first explanation is useless to the people in charge (even makes them look bad), and with the second, well, there's a lot of money in keeping people scared. That's not science, it's propaganda. Pure and simple. And over here in the EU, it's hardening into policy. For instance, social media platforms are now forced to label, downrank, demonetize, or remove posts tagged as climate "misinformation." The European Commission runs official campaigns against climate "disinformation," and there are already serious proposals to criminalize it. So no, sorry, I'm not going to act like it's a level playing field. It's not.
